Why do these doctors still force that nasty TSH - 3rd generation test on people.
Its a bad test - Don't use it as a tool.
Call the doctor and get the FT3 and FT4 and the TSH (only)
all the others test - or most of them - lean twards you NOT being optimal with your thyroid.
Do you have the lab's reference ranges? It's hard to comment without knowing how far out of range the results might be. Maybe your doctor didn't think the abnormality was significant.
I'm never surprised at what doctors do sometimes. When I had my original thyroid test and my TSH was 55+, my doctor didn't bother to let me know either; he just waited about 3 weeks until I came in for my appt. If I'd been called and started on med right away, I'd have gotten a bit of a head start, but I guess he figured that I'd gone that long, it wasn't going to hurt me to wait a bit longer. He's no longer my doctor, but even my new doctor does the same thing.
