You could have gotten a bad batch. As well as your surgery could have thrown things off. Any type of surgery is a stress on and a shock to, our system that could throw off our levels.
Fatigue is a bad example to go by because I believe personally that it just comes with the thyroid territory as well as weight gain. We just might have to live with them and deal with them the best we can by possibly treating them as a separate indemnity from thyroid.
Sounds like your doctor is getting a kick-back from synthroid, LOL. Levoxyl is the same as synthroid but with less ingredients and its a brand name T4. However, when changing med. brands it might alter your levels a tad and doctor might not want to go through that himself, regardless of your feelings and issue.
Whatever you do, do it with your doctors knowledge and approval. You don't want to make your situation any worse, in which you possibly could.
Good luck - hope you start feeling better.
That's why I was wondering if I might have gotten a bad batch of synthroid. Nothing like this has ever happened before when I took my meds - it just started happening when I got the 150mcg filled the last time. Even when I cut the pills in half and try to take them I am physically ill all day. I think what I am going to do for the meantime is go pick up the 50mcg and start taking those and see if I get the same symptoms. The only thing I started noticing (within the last couple days) is fatigue. I had a hysterectomy last September and they removed a 12 pound tumor. I don't know if the female hormones have any effect on the thyroid or not but maybe that's the case. IF the lab results are correct, I can't keep going with no meds or I am headed down a slippery slope. My doctor said I have to take the name brand Synthroid for some reason but I did make an appointment with an Endocrinologist to probe further into what's going on. Maybe I'll start taking the meds at night as you suggested. Thanks!
If there is doubt, it is always wise to retest 6 weeks after original test to confirm reading in case of any type of error. Some people will go hypo faster than others, so I don't think going from 1 to 80 in two weeks is unrealistic. If you waited another 6 weeks, which 8 weeks is the time it takes for meds. to clear our system, it might have been even higher.
If you are feeling sick from synthroid, that is if you are sure it is from synthroid and possibly not from something else, you can change brand. Not all brands are equal in their ingredients so you might do better with a different brand.
Some times I get sick after taking my thyroid pill, however it is not from the pill but actually from hunger having to wait an hour after taking the pill before eating. Some times I get so sick I end up in bed sleeping it off - just a thought.
