TSH and Pregnancy

by TLS996, Sep 01, 2009 11:34AM
I am currently in 'remission' from Grave's disease, and have been off medication (Tapazole & Beta Blockers) since March of 2009.  I conceived in June of 2009, and am currently 12 weeks pregnant.  My TSH has fluctuated from 1.8 (4 weeks), to 0.96 (7 weeks), to 0.39 (10 weeks).  My Free T4 has remained stable at around 1.1.

My questions are (1)  I have read that TSH levels can decline during pregnancy.  What is an acceptable TSH number during the first & second trimesters, and when would I 'expect' my TSH levels to increase back to a normal range, in order to avoid taking medication during pregnancy?  (2)  How often do I need my thyroid levels checked, and do I only need TSH and Free T4's included?
