I would appreciate if anybody could shed some light on some recent blood test results I have had. I went to the doc 3 months ago with hair thinning, otherwise fine - my T4T4 test level was 9.1 and TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh 28. Having no other symptoms I decided to go the alternative route for a while (acupunctureAcupuncture Alternative medicine - pain relief etc.). Checked bloods just last week, T4T4 test - 7.4 and TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh is >100. I feel fine and leadLead poisoning a busy life ( hair still thinning though) but needless to say I have started on the meds, Elthroxin 50micrograms. I am due to be tested in three weeks again and have made an appointment with an Endocrinologist.
The doctor seems to think there is a discrepency between the not so low T4 and the very high TSH, any thoughts on why this may be? Is there anything else I should be tested for?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Hopefully the endo can help you. I'm glad you feel good though. Lots of us on this site can have a TSH of 6 and feel horrible. Me being one of them. I'm new at all this so hopefully some of the more experienced will be able to help.
I am amazed that you don't feel any worse!
Ask for a full thyroid panel- TSH, free t3, free t4 and antibodies. I'm sure the endo will want those anyway.
Good luck with the appt.
