TSH level

my TSH level is 1.8. do i want to take medicine.  Is this life long or can i discontinue

A TSH of 1.8 is withn the current reference range of 0.3-3.0.  However, to answer your question properly, we would have to see your free T3 and free T4 (and the reference ranges from your lab report).  Do you have symptoms?  If so, which?

Most thyroid conditions are lifelong although there are a few (fairly rare) that are temporary and will resolve themselves.

I agree with goolarra -- and it would also be helpful to know if you have an autoimmune disease, such as Hashi's or Graves.
