Test Questions

by Mas228, May 08, 2007 12:00AM
I was diagnosed hypo in the 1980's and cytomel was prescribed.  Doctor's have tried to convert me (cold turkey) from cytomel to synthroid with disastous results.  Now we are trying it by reducing the cytomel while adding the synthroid.  The test results seemed fine for a while. Now they are not.  I am on 35 mcg of cytomel and 88 mcg synthroid.  My most recent tests show T3 in range.  T4, T4 Index, and TSH are all Low.  TSH is .06.  The doctor is now reducing the synthroid.  Does this make sense to anyone?

No it doesn't.  The t3 in cytomel will tank the tsh.  You actually need to raise the synthroid to get it to at least mid range...good luck finding a doc to listen...they are hard to come by!
