I am currently on 137 mg of Synthroid.  I am still having a few symptoms and I was wondering if from the tests that there might be any room to increase the dose.  The next increment is 150 mg of Synthroid.  Thank you.

TSH     .76 (.45-4.5)
Free T3      2.9  (2.3- 4.2)
Free T4    1.25   (.61 - 1.76)

This results look good to me. It may cause you to go hyper if you increase dosage.

When were these done?

These were done 5 weeks after being on 137mg.  Maybe I just need to give it more time.

They say it takes 4-6 weeks for full effect. Are you getting re tested again?

I think you should to make sure your levels are staying consistent.

Are your symptoms hyper or hypo?

I agree with Totie.
An increase could put you into drug induced hyper which isnt nice.

What symptoms do you have as a lot of symptoms mimic hyper/hypo.

I'm not sleeping very well and eating bad food, which I also do when I am hypo.  I am a little nervous, which I have with hypo.  I also take iron and RX vitamin d, as I am deficient in both ferritin and d.  I am confused.

Maybe, I am feeling a little hyper instead of hypo.  I have been researching and lack of sleep and even constipation can be from too much.  Perhaps I need to alternate 125 and 137.  I am so confused.  Please advise.

Hi Karen,

well we all are different and we are not drs here so you need to take what we say with a grain of salt.

Your TSH is on the low side of normal, yes.  But your FT3 and FT4 are also in the lower 1/2 of the range.  Mid range for FT3 is 3.25 (your are 2.9) and for FT4 is 1.49 (you are 1.25).

I would actually consider that your levels may be on the low side.  Some people with hypo feel better when their FT3 and FT4 are on the higher side of the normal range.

You may actually feel better on a slightly higher dose.  Depends what your doc's philosophy on this is and whether he adjusts just looking at TSH or whether he looks at the other levels.

To increase dose slightly you can alternate between 150 and 137.5 mcg.  Or take the 137.5 during the week and 150 on weekends.  This is how doses are adjusted when just a small increase is needed.

Anyway, please work with your dr.  Hope these ideas help.
