Test results Help Please

by barrettsark, Nov 15, 2008 03:03PM

Well I started out in the oct 9 th hypothyroidism with a TSH of 56 and a T4 Free of 1.1.  I was always sick and feeling tired all the time.  Depressed and started with some anxiety for the first time ever.  Cold all the time .  They upped my synthroid from 112 to 137. Started to feel better for about one week and then started waking up at night with bad anxiety and feeling very hot.  Becoming more Depressed.  Went to doctor they said I had anxiety and depression from pastpardum .  I have a 9 month old.  Put me on Lexapro and Clonazepam 1 mg at night.
Call mt End and she had me get more blood work Nov 4th and today got results.
TSH 0.33
T4 Total 11.1
T3 1.2
T4 Free 2.4
She has lowered my synthroid to 112 again and said that she thinks everything is from becoming Hyper .
All I know is that I want to feel better any help would be great.  How long can it take to get this under control and will the anxiety ever go away?

It will take a week or two for the dosage change to be felt. It may take a month or longer for the symptoms to subside.

I assume you were taking Synthoid before your pregnancy. At some point you didn't get proper care or your hormones would not have gotten so far out of balance.

Going so far hypo and then being driven hyper by overmedication really messes your head up, and your body. It makes you an emotional wreck and what it does to your body takes time to heal.

Hopefully you are scheduled to be retested six weeks after the dosage change, and then six weeks after that to see how things are going.

Thank You I am going again in one month for blood work.  I just can't believe how bad I feel.  And yes I was taking synthroid when I was pregnant.

i have been on synthroid for 12 years and just switched to armour b/c I have been feeling progressively horrible since my second son was born 4 years ago. my TSH was ver elevated too. My doctor took me off of lexapro b/c i kept gaining weight and put meon Prozac...I love it! It helps so much with the anxiety and also supresses my appetite...and its only 4.00 a month!!! I was on 150mcg of synthroid and I am still increasing armour, I am on 3 grains (180mg) a day and gonns increase until I feel better. make sure you are seeing a doctor who listens to you and yoru body. my doc also have me a hormone shot b/c my period wouldn't start and she put me on cymbalta it helps with the aches and hurts and helps me to fall asleep at night but not be groggy in the am. good luck...don't give up, but with the thyroid you must be proactive b/c alot of doctors don't understand it.

Thank you My baby is 9 months now and my periods have not started and I'm getting worried.  I know it has to be my thyroid.  Did your anxiety only come with you thyroid problem?
