Test results

So I got my blood work back.
TSH 5.190
T4 Free 1.36
T3 Free 2.74

So far my doctor wants to leave me on the 100 MCG  Synthroid and wait because of the fact that I just had shingles.  She thinks that sense my Immune system is down right now that can cause my thyroid to go off.

Go my first Vitamin B 12 Shot yesterday.
What have some people noticed with getting them.  She thinks it's going to help my anxiey.  Any thoughts?

Of course you need to take care of the B12 and Vit. D issues.  In regard to thyroid, the most important thing to remember is that it is all about symptoms.   Especially with Hashi's, the doctor should not be treating you just to achieve some target level for TSH.  This doesn't work.  In my firm opinion, the very best way to treat a thyroid patient is to test and adjust the active thyroid formones (FT3 and FT4), with meds as required to alleviate symptoms.

Here is a good supporting article about this.

Yes I have been tested for Hashis and I'm positive.  Thyroperoxidase Ab was 324 a week ago. I've had this for 6 years now I just can't get it under control.  I can go so long feeling pretty good and then just go back down hill.

No they did not culture the shingles.  It was only on one side of my head and the sours did get better with the med's they gave me.  I was in a lot of pain.

My Vitamin B 12 was 385 and I'm getting Vitamin B12 shots for that.

Vitamin D is low too at 27

I think they are thinking that because I was sick with the shingles I should wait a while and see what is going to happen with my TSH.

They don't want to make the anxiety worst by upping synthroid.

Some times I really do think I'm going crazy.

How do you know it was Shingles? Did they do a culture of the sores?

I ask because I have Hashimoto's Auto-Immune Thyroid Disease, and for the first year, I was misdiagnosed with Shingles, but the so-called Shingles came back every month and the Acyclovir did NOTHING to help me.

After much research, and new doctors, we figured I have Hashi. Many Hashis get skin issues. See below link:

Your TSH is high, which could definitely be Hashi. Your B12 is low, an indication of Hashi. Anxiety - Hashi.

I'm not saying it's not Shingles. It very well could be. Hashis get all kinds of infections, issues, because of weakened immunity.

I just wanted to know if you've been tested for Hashi (TGab and Anti-TPO blood test and a thyroid ultrasound).

And in an answer to your question about your doctor's treatment, I honestly believe that the thyroid issues need to be treated first. If you need more Synthroid, why wait?
