The TPOab has three other names, but if you ask any GP to run both antibody tests for Hashimoto's, those are the two that will be run.
The bloodwork to look at your thyroid hormones would be tests for TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh, Free T4T4 test, and Free T3. But to see if the problem is an auto-immune problem, you need the TPOab and TGab tests run.
Biopsy would be required to confirm cancer. For Hashimoto's, it's a matter of finding out if you have antibodies. I have confirmed Hashimoto's and have never had a biopsy.
