This can't be right!

by gofigerr, Jun 14, 2007 12:00AM
I have been on the lowest dose of levothyroxine 1/2 25mcg for 8 days now, I am still having andrenaline rushes all night, and nightmares, my doc wants me to increase to a whole pill now, but I am either going to give it 1 more week at the 1/2 or stop altoghether! Does anyone else have this much trouble when first taking thyroid meds. Im subclinical and my tsh was only 2.62. She says I am having classic panic attacks and it is probably because my body has become used to the way it feels with low thyroid and increasing it even in the smallest dose is probably bringing on the attacks because I am prone to them, but I have never had this before. Anyway, how long does it usually take to get use to the increase, how long should I give it before saying "I just don't need it"?

Question: did you have these before the levo or just after?

Before, she says I am subclinical.

Until my TSH went below 1.0 I had insomnia, nightmares, night sweats, all of it.  I would give it some more time and see what happens.  It usually takes at least 6 wks to adjust to new dose of hormone.  Stick it out.  Could be panic attacks, but I have those, too and it just doesn't sound "classical" to me and mine.  Give it some time and hopefully you will see a change for the better.
