Throid TSH levels and hair shedding

by Annie Lou, May 03, 2007 12:00AM

Sorry this is so long but I am hoping with more info I might get some help. I am shedding my hair. Dr. chanded my thyroid level a couple years ago from @ 115 Levoxyl to 75 synthroid. scalp started itching and hair shedding. eyes itch on and off and skin. Dry skin. So my TSH is now 1.104 with shedding 2 1/2 yrs ago it was what Doc said was high at 5.93. could this change cause shedding. Please help. Anyone know what this could be? I've heard yeast etc

These are my labs:

Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy 23.5L ng/mL (scale of 32.0-100.0)  , taking D now w/ calcium

Glucose tests ranging from 102, 101, 106, 83 (scale of 65-99)

10/05
TSH Thyroxine (T4) T3 Uptake Free Thyroxine Index
  1.104 uIU/mL (scale of 0.350-5.500) 10.8 ug/dl (scale of 4.5-12.0) 35 % (scale of 24-39) 3.8 (scale of 1.2 -4.9)

1/07
TSH
1.34 uIU/ml (scale of 0.27-4.20)

11/06
TSH
0.66 mIU/L (scale of 0.40-5.50 )

1/02 only test I have before began noticing hair shedding began in late '05
TSH Thyroxine (T4) T3 Uptake Free Thyroxine Index
5.93 mcIU/ml (scale of.35-5.50) 5.2 mcg/dl 32 % 24-39) 1.6 (1.2- 4.9)
It seems to me my TSH and T3 and 4 are in the low range or at least a different range than they had been. Maybe everyone is not exactly the same and I need to be back in the high range not to be shedding my hair, itching, etc. I truly would appreciate you giving this some thought

I can't answer your ?? about the levels- I'm just a rookie!

I can tell you that I had tons of thininng hair too and still do. I changed shampoos recently and have to say it has helped tremendously.

Good Luck
