Thyroid Cancer and Neuropathy

by CCB605, Mar 22, 2008 11:26PM
I was diagnosed with Papillary Carcinoma, Nov. 2004.  About a year ago I started having some tingling and burning pain under my right foot.  The symptoms indicate Neuropathy and I'm wondering if this is something that is normally seen in Thyroid Cancer patients or is this something totally unrelated?

I am not sure at all ...... there is a name for what you have as my friend has it and it can get very painful .. sorry, the name eludes me at this writing .... not sure if related to thyroid .. my gut says I do not think so but you can post to Dr. Lupo on the Dr. board .. here is the link:

I don't think it is related but I'm not an expert either.  I do know that diabetes can cause neuropathy but you usually get it in your hands also.  I would assume with the signs and symptoms that they have checked you for diabetes.  Multiple endocrinopathies are common ( such as high cholesterol, diabetes, and thyroid disorders ).  If you have high chol. and we know you have thyroid problems, it would be worth looking into.

This may sound weird, but when I have trouble with regulating my meds and get hyperthyroid, I get a numb spot in my foot.  Once my levels get back to where they should be, it goes away.  Maybe you should get your TSH checked?
