Thyroid Cancer

My sister had two goiters and although she kept checking them frequently, lateley she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She was operated and had her thyroid removed and after 6 months she took the iodine radioactive pill. Now  she is on thyroxin and her doctor told her that right now its important to keep her thyroid fast. My problem is that yesterday my sister had a panic attack . She felt like she was going to throw up and her heart beat was very fast. Her last thyroid test revieled that TSH was 70.90 HI mu/l while T4 18.50 pmol/L.

I am worried that my sister should have her throxine dose increased or decreased. Can anyone hlp me?

Regards

By the way, you should also be checked for cancer, I have a sister who had the same cancer that I did and I know Utahmomma has several sisters who had the same.  It does run in families.

If your sister is going through another cancer treatment then her TSH needs to be high for the treatment (the radioactive iodine).  If she is finished with the treatment then she needs to have her thyroxin *increased* because her TSH needs to be maintained around 1.0.
