Thyroid Cyst/Uptake Scan

Has anyone had a benign cyst on left lobe on their thyroid and their doctor recommended doing a uptake scan before deciding on surgery. I have been dealing with this for 6 months, sore throat, pain in neck loosing voice, etc.   All thyroid function normal.  Ready to take left lobe out and PCP doctor suggested doing uptake scan before I make the decision.  Biopsy says benign but her concern is I have the surgery then find out its actually the right lobe is causing the trouble.  Scan shows whole thyroid and whether nodules are cold or hot.

I had nodules so no real exp. here, but I'd rather have the uptake scan b4 the surgery and know you've done all you can to find out ahead of time .. the frozen biopsies are great for what they biopsy, but in my case, my final report came back with two add'l microcarinomas elsewhere in the gland and, thus,my left side is still there . the orig. nodules were totally benign and held true from the frozen path to the final path.

I have a large nodule on left side biopsy suggests benign but they are going to remove it anyway, they are not going to do a update scan but they are going to do a freeze biopsy on the side they remove and if it tests cancerous they are going to remove the whole thing, by the way does your neck bother you lots more the hotter it gets mine sure does
