Thyroid Heterogeneous Echogenicity
I have been given results of my thyroid ultrasound and I have a heterogeneous thyroid gland with a dominant nodule in the left lower pole measuring 2.0cm and non specific in appearance. What followup tests are recommended for a test result of this type?

The next step would be an ultrasound guided FNA (fine needle aspirate) and, perhaps, an uptake scan to see if it is a functioning nodule.
