I am on levaroxine 125mcg and my weight still high lost nothing and trying to eating better, no soda, walk daily etc. Here is my main question for all. Ever since I found out that I had a thyroid problem (low) my periods are very crazy. I have not had on in 4mos and before that it was like ever other mnonth an might last 2 day and be light flow. Any help or advise info Thanks in advance.

Of course, diet and exercise must be properly maintained; however, many times low metabolism due to thyroid issues is a major contributor to weight gain.  To assess that, you really need to know the levels of the actual, biologically active thyroid hormones, which are free T3 and free T4 (FT3 and FT4).  TSH is inadequate as a diagnostic by which to determine medication.  TSH does not correlate very well at all with hypo symptoms.  FT3 has been shown to correlate best with hypo symptoms, with FT4 second.

I suggest that you go back and insist that they run FT3 and FT4 tests, not total T3 and total T4, and then post the results and reference ranges used by your lab, so that members can help interpret results.
