Thyroid/Parathyroid related?

I have been dx with hyothyroidism and Hashimotos. I now am on the generic synthroid for about a month now. (my last TSH was 8.8) For the past two weeks I have started to feel a little more fatigued and now have this HORRIBLE posterior neck pain that goes into the tops of my sholders. I can not even turn my head side to side it hurts so bad.

My co workers say its stress, someone else said a slept on it wrong. I have been using moist heat, motrin, stretching and every day is has gotten worse....any chance it could be related to my thyroid? also I am being worked up for secondaryhypoparathryroidism.

I had similar back neck/shoulders pain, I had these before even being told I am hypothyroid. Anyway, the worst was when I was taking Levothyroxine. Almost every morning my pain was there. I keep switching the pillows, mattress hopping it will help, I went to doctors, physical therapy.
My pain went away once I changed to Armour. Now I start taking a combination of Synthroid and Armour, I hope the pains will not return.
I am a little bit confused as at the same time I start my treatment for blood pressure.  Somehow, in my case, I believe this is a hypotyphoid related symptom and somehow the extra T3 from the Armour helped. This is just my opinion.

Did the dr say ‘secondary?’  From my limited knowledge it sounds more like they’d be looking for a ‘primary’ problem with the parathyroids(?).

* I don’t mean to alarm * in saying the following, but a tumor on a parathyroid gland can cause neck pain.  It seems unlikely that it's that though since the pain has only just appeared after starting the thyroid med.  

I agree with Stella5349 that changing to a brand name might be something to think about.  I have read here and in other places of neck pain and achiness being associated with taking generic thyroid meds.  Of course, nothing’s perfect, but the brand names appear to cause less issues.  When I was first on meds I was given the generic.  At the first visit to the Endo that dr changed me to a brand for the same reasons.  Ultimately it’s you and your dr’s call though.

If your dr doesn’t already know of this pain, I’d call and tell him/her.

I do not think it has anything to do with your parathyroid glands. I think the best thought would be to go - or call your doctor and get them to script you only the name brand SYNTHROID only.

It sounds you are having alot of the issues that go along with remaining hypothyroid even on meds.
