Thyroid Scan

I had a scan done and it says that the right lobe is 10x9x8 mm.  Is this a normal size or not?  And would a biopsy be necessary?  Thanks

Typically, there's no need for a biopsy, unless there are nodules that exhibit unusual characteristics, or other reason suspect cancer.  A typical thyroid is 4.0-4.8 X 1.0-1.8 X 0.8-1.6 cm.  Yours is 1.0 X 0.9 X 0.8 cm.

Do you have either hypo - or hyperthyroidism? Have you had blood work done to determine actual thyroid hormone levels?
