Thyroid Ultrasound

I just received the results of a thyroid ultrasound. It states "patient has complex cystic masses left lobe of the thyroid inferiorly. Hyperechoic lesion left lobe. Hyperechoic area right lobe. My right lobe measured 4.2 x 1.4 x 1..5 cm. My left lobe is 4.4 x 1.3 x2.1. I am very confused because this sounds like cancer to me. I was actually being tested for hyperparathyroidism. I have normal CA 10.4 and elevated PTH 83. Any advise would be appreciated.

Sounds more like thyroidosis to me, your thyroid is a bit enflamed...if there are discreet nodules, i.e., round solid masses that have vascularity I would be more concerned, but I am sure you are having a follow-up with your doctor to discuss it...don't panic! This does not sound like a huge deal, only a hormone problem...get the follow-up and the doctor will explain what is going on.

I just my Vitamin D lab results today and te Vitamin D 1,25-DIHY was 84.3 and the 25-HYDROX was 8.2. Do these results and the Ca of 10.4 and PTH of 83 indicate hypothyroidism or hyperparathyroidism?
