Thyroid and dry hair

3 years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and it took almost 2 years to regulate my medication.  About 14 months ago I was put on synthroid and all was well.  I have never experienced hair loss but over the last four months my hair has become extremely dry, it feels like straw.  When I get my hair wet it give off a strong chemical smell.  My hairdresser has tried various products and treatments and believes that the synthroid is probably the culprit.  Has anyone ever had this happen?  Any ideas to fix it?

I think AR-10 means possibly hyper.

If your hair is giving off a smell I think it's time for a hair analysis. Talk to your doctor about having your hair tested to find out what's going on. They can give you more information about what sort of toxins are in your body.

I doubt synthroid is the culprit or that a hairdresser would have the credentials to say so. =)

When was the last time you had bloodwork done?
Do you know the test results?
Is it possible you are slightly hypo?
