Thanks for the info. I am scheduled to se the surgeon on 9/27. My doctor didn't seem to be very impressed with the results and said thyroidectomy was up to me. I told her I wanted it removed since had an uncle die from anaplastic cancer (worse of the thyroid cancers) and not knowing if malignant cells are present. She said to make sure the surgeon removed the whole thyroid. I was surprised with her attitude considering all that I have read leads to a total thyroidectomy. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Not sure .. not too much experience with the words on the report except atypical cells have 25% chance of turning into cancer if left intact; then again, if taken out now most likely odds are with you to be benign as my orig. 2 nodules were benign yet atypical follicular cells .. but, mine weren't slightly atypical so I made out really well with totally benign!  .. they were atypical and my pathologist came in to talk and examine me and said I have no choice but remove 1/2 thryoid ..... upon surgery and final biopsy they found 2 incidental findings of pap cancer elsewhere in the gland .. small .. fully encapsulated.
