Thyroid growth NORMAL blood levels

My husband has a growth at the base of his neck on the right side.  He saw an E.N.T. doctor who ordered tests.  The thyroid levels came back normal.  Are we seeing the right doctor?

Could this be cancer?

I discovered a lump in my neck and went to my GP who sent me for an ultrasound and thyroid uptake scan which determined is was a cold 2.8 cm nodule.Had it biopsied and came back follicilar lesion inconclusive so i had a TT last december and it turned out to be follicular thyroid cancer (stage 1 with no spread anywhere)Had RAI treatment a couple of weeks later and have now spent the last couple of months getting my dosage of levo on target.Anyhow im just glad its out of there.Us guys are slightly more at risk for the nodule being cancerous so make sure you follow through on everything..forgot to add that my GP referred me to an endo....fire away if you have any questions this board has really helped me out
Best of luck for benign results!

Thank you.  He had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with 4cm nodule on the right and a 1.5cm one on the left.  A biopsy has been scheduled for next week. Thanks again.

I am in the same situation- normal bloodwork meaning normal functioning thyroid but a 2.5cm cold nodule on my left lobe of my thyroid.I found it by looking in the mirror and went to my primary doctor and he ordered a sonogram.  I am going to have a biopsy to rule out cancer since there is a 15-20% chance.  If it is not, I will have to watch if it grows or not and possibly have part of my thyroid removed.  He needs to have a sonogram first.  Make sure he follow up on this.

you can have a goiter with normal blood tests.I would get an endocrinologist that specializes in thyroids.Get an ulstrasond then go from there.
