The hoarseness is a concern, your recurrant laryngeal nerve runs through your thyroid or just close enough to be pressed upon by a nodule. I had hoarseness, I am a singer, so that was a problem for me. I had four nodules, three on the right and one on the left. We tried removing the right side to alleviate the hoarseness, turned out to be cancer, so I had the total thyroidectomy, no more hoarseness. Not to say you have cancer, there are many other factors, but there is a 5-15% chance of cancer. Your nodule that is 1.2 cm can be biopsied, I would suggest you have that done. Did they say if the nodules were vascular on dopler image? If so, that increases the chances of it being cancerous, but not by much.
Are you on thyroid meds? If so how much?
