Thyroid questions

My son had a ultrasound on his thyroid. The dr said that he has some tissue and his thyroid is alittle big. What my question is has anyone every heard of losing your voice, having the mono rash and occassionally a sore throat? He can barely talk above a whisper. His ENT dr wants him to take speech therapy, but his voice comes back for a little while. He has been like this for 5 weeks now. Can anyone help with what maybe going on?

They said that he had mono from having tonsilitis and taking amoxicillin. They check his thyroid levels and said that everything was normal. They didn't say anything about any nodules. They also didn't say anything about a growth, just that there was some tissue on his thyroid. His ent dr. says that he needs to go to speech therapy, because he is not relaxing his vocal cords, but he can get his voice back sometimes, but then it goes away again. I am going to get a second opinion, from a pediatric ent.

What do you mean "some tissue?"  Like a goiter, "growth"  My sons both had mono & never lost their voice.  My youngest son had so many strep throat cases that he finally got his tonsils & adnoids removed at 5 years old.  Never lost his voice.   Why is he losing his voice?? From "some tissue," his thryoid, or what?  What was the doctors explanation on why he has no voice.   That would be my question.  Speech lessons won't help if he can't talk above a whisper, will it??  What is he treating?

Hi there!
Does he have mono?? Did he have his thyroid levels checked? Did they find any nodules on his thyroid?
