Thyroid removal surgery and pregnancy...

Hi,

My name is Sommer (just like the season),

----I have recently been diagnosed with Graves Disease and have been seeing a fertility Dr. to attempt In vitro fertilization. My fertility Dr. recommended seeing a specialist before furthing my plight at "baby making".

So, I am scheduled to have my thyroid removed tomorrow... Oct. 2, 2008.

My question is.... How soon after will be healthty enough to re-start my In vitro process? I am very anxious for, I have been waiting 2 years already!

This discussion is related to thyroid problem and invitro-fertilization.

I believe it depends on a number of factors. . .I had my thyroid out on 8/4/08 for Graves Disease and then had calcium issues post-op. . .I had been on mega-doses of calcium and prescription vitamin D. . .luckily, my calcium has regulated and my endo said that we can start trying for a baby now that I'm off of the calcitriol (vit D). . .of course there will have to be some adjustments made with the synthroid, but that is par for the course I believe.

I'm sure that there are others on here who have more info than me.
