Thyroid surgery

Ok I was diganosed 2 years ago with hyopthyroid. Been on Levothyroxine and Cytomel. Last few months I've been having trouble breathing, swallowing and I feel like theres a baseball in my throat. Been to the ER tons of times and they say nothings wrong. Also been to the lung doctor who says I'm fine. Also lost about 30 pounds since this started. My thyroid doctor did blood work which showed my levels are fine. He suggested surgery and I'm scared. Has anyone had these problems? Is thyroid surgery have a painful recovery? Thanks for your help!

Surgery is a good option if you have having symptoms that are inpacting on your every day life.  I had a normal thyroid function with some other issues and a goiter 6.8cm large, I was fainting, having breathing issues, not sleeping, not able to function and yes I had a TT.  I cant say I had a "normal" surgery and it was easy, but its WELL worth getting past the day to day symptoms that I had pre TT and I would recommend it to anyone.

They did a ultrasound about 5 months ago that showed it enlarged but they said they didn't think it was big enough to cause problems.
