I had a total thyroidectomy in June 2005 due to thyroid cancer. I am currently taking 5mcg T3 (seven days a week) and 200mcg synthroid (five days a week) and 175 mcg synthroid (on the other 2 days a week when I am not taking the 200 mcgs). I seem to have these anomolous periods of weight gain - about 6 months ago I gained 10 pounds in 11 days - which is still with me. Also, more recently I have gained 2 lbs in a matter of just 3 days. Does anyone else have this? Is this dose related? Through all of this I have been recording my excercise and calorie intake - and that doesn't match the weight gain. Thanks.
I believe it all has to do with metabolism, and everyone's is different, does not matter if we all do the same excersies and diets, we will all end up with different results. Short of starving ourseleves we are doing everything possible known to so many on trying to lose weight. Maybe try something that will kick in your metabolism, that is approved by your doctor of course.
I had a TT back in 1994, yes i gained weight, but after the dosage was found for me, i basically stayed the same weight for about 15 years. My weight was within normalNormal saline flush range for my height. (5'2- 120lbs.) I never became over weight. Okay will i did end up gaining about 15lbs after drinking the regularRegular insulin sodas (i never realized how much surgar were in them) and fast foods. Once i stopped those things i lost the 15lbs. I am under weight at the moment, but for other reasons.
I always tell my doctor i have a fast metabolism. I have come to the conclusion that our bodies are built a certain way and nothing can change it.

Again, see if increasing your metabolism rate will help, but check with your doctor first. There some things you should not take with the medication or the thyroid disease we were so LUCKY to get....
Good Luck.
