1547 obviously has not personally experienced "the problem." Cosmicsoul...I'm in the same boat. I recently found a group of physicians who will treat you based on your bloodwork. In other words, my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh levels before my partialPartial (focal) seizure Partial thromboplastin time (ptt) Thyroid gland removal thyroidectomy (when I felt great, except for very large nodules in my neckCervical spondylosis Head and neck glands Herpes zoster (shingles) on the neck and cheek Irritated seborrheic kerotosis - neck Lymph tissue in the head and neck. Melanoma - neck Neck lump Neck pain Neck pulse Neck x-ray Oral cancer) became way out of line when I was placed on Synthroid or Levoxyl; however, after going off the medications within seven months of my surgery, my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh levels are again normal and close to what they were before surgery. The synthroid made me feel sick, sour stormach, bloated, gaining weight, etc....felt horrible, but could hardly explain it to anyone. Although now off the medications with no sour stormach, I'm still bloated and unable to lose weight (before surgery I was 113, 5'2". I'm now 121. May not sound like much, but at my size it's two dress sizes. No one (ENT, Primary Care Doc, Endocrinologist...no one) would ever check my T3 or T4. The T3 is the key. The alternatives are out there...you just have to find a doctor who listens, knows that the results have to be geared to YOU...not over-the-counter "stock" medicines, and to be determined to get to the root of your problem. You know yourself better than anyone. Don't settle...seek a cure!
