Thyroidectomy

I have Hashimoto's for at least 9 years and been on some dose of Synthroid for that long.  I recently had my second ultrasound of the thyroid and new nodules have supposedly developed.  My Endo want me to have the thyroid removed, I'm not sure it is completely necessary, and after all the potential problems after removal, I really don't want to do it.  Any thoughts?

You should get a second opinion. Surgery is not to be taken lightly.

What did your ultra sound say? This would be a good post for 898 to look at. If you post your ultra sound results, then he see and give his point of view. He is very good with ultrasounds, etc.
I have had continuous problems with my nodules coming and going....I am sitting here with ice pack on right now. I wish someone would have supported me getting the bad half of my thyroid removed before my insurance company excluded it.
