Tight incision

10 days ago I had a complete thyroidectomy to remove a papillary carcinoma
and for the most part my recovery has gone pretty well.  My incision looks very
good but it feels awfully tight.  Most of the day it doesn't bother me all that much
but at night when I lay in bed and have nothing to distract me it feels like
the thing is strangling me. I can breathe OK and have no problems swallowing
so I know that it is not actually obstructing anything. Will this be something
I will need to deal with long term, or will it disappear over time?

Thank you.

I was told by my surgeon to massage oil or lotion into it a few times a day to break up the scar tissue and keep the incision from drying out and cracking.  I liked aloe vera gel.

I am sorry to hear this! Yes I had a Partial lobectomy May 5th and a TT on the 27th of MAy this year mine was tiught as well!!! It drove me crazy! It is merely a bothsome side effect from the surgery. It will get better!! The scar tissue inside is what pulls and it will deflame if you will. Hang in there. It will get better!! Mine is still tight I strech it once or twice per day!
