Tinnitus and Thyroid

Hello
I have been suffering from Tinnitus for more than 1 year. It gets better at times but it comes back. I have been seen by 3 ENT's but they haven't been able to give a diagnosis. About 2 months ago I had thyroiditis and as a result of that my blood test showed Hyperthyroidism but the doctor thinks that I could have Hypothyroidism now. Since my tinnitus is worse now, is there a chance that the tinnitus is related to the thiroid being out of whack? I also have my ears plugged.. By the way the tinnitus started only on my right ear but now I have it in both ears. Please help!!!!!

Thanks
Sukita

Hi, your problem might be due to fluid accumulation in your inner ear.  Check your TSh level and if there is low thyroid hormone then take hypothyroid hormnone replacement in appropriate dose.  Also steroid tables may be helpful along with methylcobalamine injection for faster recovery (if the problem is because of hypothyroidsim).  I am also suffering the same.  I am now recovering but not totally cure this symptome.  Consult your doc.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you I have had tinnitus for years, but this year that I have began to have thyroid problems it has become much worse. I once looked it up, and it was hard to find, but it did say on a couple of sites that it was linked to Hypothyroidism. Hope this helps.
