I can tell you that i found some website that stated it was a symptom and only because I have it really bad, too. I can't remember what it was, but I'll try to find it.. You are not alone, though. Mine drives me up the wall. However, i have been hypo then hyper and back to hypo, now and when I was hyper, it went away and it seems to be getting better as my TSH is coming down.
I haves suffered this off and on for many years, like ever since in my early twenties and way before diagnosed with Hyper/Graves'. I always blamed it on stress. I have since learned that one of the many causes of Tinnitus is thyroid disease and is one of the many thyroid symptoms that has to be treated separate from thyroid.
Yes- I've read in several places the link between thyroid disorders and tinnitus. I have hashi's and was having tinnitus really, really bad prior to starting synthroid. I only get it occasionally now.
I've had tinnitus and when my thyroid is off kilter, as it is now, it comes back. I have hypothyroidism and Hashi's. However, I also have anemia and that causes tinnitus too. About four days after taking the higher dose of Synthroid my tinnitus was gone.
Anemia and tinnitus? Hadn't heard that one. I have Hemochromitosis so my constant goal is anemia. I need to ask my liver doc about that one, it's never been brought up.
I guess with two diseases that can both cause tinnitus, I'm doomed to hear bells all day!
