Tonsilitis as child maybe connect to thyca

Was doing some research online last night and found a website that said back in the 50's - early 70's they used some time of X-ray treatment for tonsilitis.  I had my tonsils take out in 1968. I was 8 years old at the time.  Don't know if there is a connection, but out of 12 siblings, I'm the only one that had a tonsilectomy and now thyca.  My mom had some time of thyroid problem. Don't know what kind and she pasted away a long time ago.  One sister had part of her thryoid removed in her early 30's for a goiter but it wasn't cancer.  Just something to make me go "Hmmmmmmm."

I don't know. I do recall a husband who blamed the removal of his wife's tonsils , as being the cause of her thyroid cancer.

I also was wondering the same thing.I had my tonsils out in 1967 while living in Panama at the time.I think i was 5 or 6.My mother has since passed away and my dad really doesnt remember much about it.Since being diagnosed ive wondered if it could be traced back to then

I might try contacting the hospital where I had my tonsils out in Illinois.  I know the doctors name and if I remember right, it was the summer of 1968.  I do know the doctor is now in the St. Louis area because one of my sister bought the house he use to practice out of a few years ago.  I think he's retired by now. I grew up in a very rural area, so I doubt if I can find out anything for sure.  But miracles happen all the time

That was the second question that the doctors asked me after they found out I was too young to be a "down winder".  I didn't have the tonsil x-rays but I guess they were very popular just before my time.  

Any way you can find out if you had the x-rays or not?
