Too much synthroid

hi I'm new to synthroid, was started at .25 mg then three days later the specialist put me on.75 mg
Initially my tsh was (24.5) high but my T4 free was 1.1 normal
Now Im restless nervous night sweats palpitations and very cold overall, major tremors
None of theses symptoms before the meds
Previous symptoms were sore back and feeling a little cold
Been to the ER twice this week I felt so bad
What do you all think? I'm going to stop the synthroid
How long will it take for it to dissipate out of my system?

this happened to me. I had head pain, eye pain, a drawing sensation in face sometimes,....I called the dr and they assured me it was not the meds.and to continue the meds until retesting...LONG STORY SHORT....IT WAS THE MEDS.....follow your gut..that increase is too fast....for your thyroid in my opinion...increasing after test every 4-6 weeks is better....for me...6-8 weeks is better....until your test show you are on the right dosage but too much can cause a heart attack and all kinds of problems......I ended up having two mri test , eye dr test, etc and everything came back normal until I  realized.......I KNOW IT IS THE MEDS...and cut the dosage in half and slowing came back to normal..i skipped several days......and then cut the dosage in half.....

What's the reference range on your FT4?  Ranges vary lab to lab, so they have to come from your own lab report.  Have you ever had any thyroid testing previously?

TSH is a pituitary hormone and a very indirect measure of thyroid status.  However, it is just about worshipped by the medical profession.  Any number of factors can make TSH useless.

I'd like to see where your FT4 is at in the range, and then I'll comment further.

I had no hypo symptoms i went to the doctor for an achy back, they took blood test to try and understand why my back still ached. Ive had a somewhat high metabolism my whole life so it makes no sence.

I agree that that was too big a jump, too fast.  Adjustments are typically done in 12.5-25 mcg increments.  If you're over 50, have been hypo for a long time, have a history of heart arrhythmia or sensitivity to meds, you may have to take it especially slowly.

The last time I was overmedicated, my endo told me to discontinue meds for three days, then to resume at a lower dose.  In the three days, the worst of the hyper symptoms went away, although they did linger for a while longer at a lesser intensity.  You might ask your doctor if that approach might work for you.

How did you feel before you started meds?  Many hypo symptoms?

Fe25 mcg to 75 is a big jump. Maybe go down to 37.5 then 50 then 75 after several weeks. Your ft4 is low even though in range. You do need an increase but not so fast. Take it slow. Don't go off it. You are hypo.
