My son had his thyroid removed a year ago due to cancer. He is on 137 mcg Synthroid and 10 units of ArmourArmour thyroid. He has been unable to lose the extraExtra strength mylanta calci tabs Extra strength pain relief 20 lbs. he has gained and worries about that. However, he is also noticing trouble breathing and blames it on the synthroid. I have had the same procedure done and am on 137 Synthoid. However, have not experienced any breathing problems. Is this possible that the meds are doing it to him?
i've had shortness of breath that i think was from thyroid issues. i've had them when i was subclinical hyper and severely hypo.
what are his tsh, ft3, ft4? maybe he's on too much or too little of one and/or both meds. he should really get these values tested so that his meds can be adjusted accordingly.
I've been having some issues with this recently. Had an increase in Levo in June to 137mcg. I don't know what my lvl's are yet,on this dosage. I remember reading somewhere that hypo-thyroid can cause breathing problems. I KNOW for sure from my June test results that I was being under-treated. But,Pat is right about getting the blood work done to see if the dosage is a good one for him.
My levels dropped alot recently and along with unwelcome weight increase I struggled to get a deep breath and had to stop all excercise cause I very quickly became short of breath ( I am 38yrs old). Had been on 150mcg of levy for a few years with no problems, my meds were increased and the shortness of breath was the first symptom to subside, unfortunatly for me I have gone the other way now (over medicated) but I would always advise getting blood work done, hypo and hyper have no end of symptoms alot of which aren't recognised by doctors but common to alot of sufferers.
