I would like to add to Nursejulie: I found an amazing endo who specializes in thyroid. He said that if you are above a tsh of 1 then you are not optimum. He said that the tsh should be kept between a .50-1.0 to keep the hashi's in check. Anything above your body cannot heal itself. I was amazed as my old endo had kept me under treated for the past 2 yrs and I continued to have problems with my monthly cycle. Now I understand why I never got better. Now that I am at optimum levels i am feeling much better and my cycles are much better and easier. A lot of drs don't understand hashimotos...this dr really impressed me with his knowledge.
I too, am trying to get PG with Hashi's and mild PCOS. Just diagnosed Tuesday and started Synthroid 50mcg. Husband and I have been trying a year. Just found out I was not ovulating, irregular cycles, due to Hashi's and mild PCOS. I know doc's want your TSH to be between 1-2 to conceive because Thyroid is directly correlated to your baby's brain development early in pregnancy. It can also cause miscarriage, if levels are not managed. My TSH was 4.5, so we have a little work to do before we can resume trying. Have you ever been tested for PCOS? My labs were normal, but on the borderline...LH 9.8 (19.2-103.0) which is low. My FSH was 9.1, normal. Testosterone 61 ng/dl (175-781). Prolactin 8.5 (3.3-26.7). I am still researching these labs and levels. But, I know they also play a part in our trouble with conceiving.
Anyone else out there feel free to bump this and add any knowledge as I am learning too!
