Understanding Lab results

My results of my TSH were 9.0 on a normal scale of 0.4 to 4.5
My T4, free results were 1.1 on a normal scale of 0.8 to 1.8
and my T3, free result were 366 on a normal scale of 230 to 420

Now none of this was really explained to me they just put me on a medicine, 50 mcg's of levothyroxine. I have learned online that my TSH level means that my thyroid is underactive but the reults for the other two and how they correspond to the the TSH is rather confusing to me. Can any one help?

Ultrasound isn't urgent but when you have a thyroid problem it must be done. I think your doctor is doing the right thing, next visit perhaps she's going to ask for those tests.

Thank you! And no I have not, did not know I needed to! In about a month and half I have to go back to get retested and will discuss the antibody test with her then. Do you think that a ultrasound is necessary?

When you have high TSH and normal T3 and T4, means you have subclinical hypothyroidism, so your doctor was right about medicating you. Have you tested for thyroid antibodies? (to see if the cause is autoimmune), and what about an ultrasound?
