FYI another tip is that selenium is better yeast free. Aslo if you take iron, use solgar gentle iron or blue bonnet. Easier to stomach, better absorption.
FTB4- glad you posted this info, I am allergic to soy! Have not started the Vit D yet, waiting on these next lab tests first, but will know what to look for now! Thanks, sass
great post... Geez this is what this site is all about! Helping each other with this stuff. Just bought the hugest jar from costco as well. What a mess! The brand on amazon seems great and its 8.59 with no shipping charges.
Yes, a lot of the cheap vitamins from national chain retailers contain some form of soy. Vitamins stores are usually better quality but more costly for a reason,. But...... their 'in house' name brands can also contain poor ingredients, like soy and cellulose as a filler. Best to red the small print.
I hate to say this, but W.Mart brand of supps specifically states no soy or gluten........still the better brands work better. Magnesium is a perfect example, the chepo brands do nothing.
Well, I did make the same mistake ............ LOL I have been taking SunDown brand of vitamin D; read your post, so went to check my bottle; it, too, has soybean oil. I'm glad you posted this, because I'm off to the vitamin store in a bit, to replenish my supply of other vitamins; I'll look while I'm there and see what I can find............ will post back later on.
I like the Carlson brand - I use their magnesium soft gels as well, as I feel that they dissolve and absorb better than pills or capsules.
Actually, I did find several brands that were soy free; however, most of those were in either pill or capsule form; I prefer the soft gels, as it seems that they dissolve and absorb better for me. Most of the brands of soft gels "did" contain soy.
I agree with LM - it's usually best to go to a regular health food store/vitamin shop and spend a bit extra to get quality products.
Lesson learned: make sure you read those labels!!
