Just because a thyroid test shows you are ok, does not mean you are ok. You should have another one. Hair loss is symptomatic of a thyroid issue. I have heard several people say they tested fine, but after second tests other doctors and searching, they found out they did have a problem. Something with how the test works. See if you can find a doctor that will put you on thyroid medication 'anyway', low dose is not going to hurt you.

My endocrinoligist recommended Evening Primrose Oil when my hair started coming out by the handfuls due to thyroid issues.  He said it wouldn't stop the loss but that new growth would be healthier and thicker.  Also, in the past I've taken vitamins for my fingernails and noticed that my hair benefited more from them than my nails!

Don't take excessive amounts of the oil though - I does have a bruisijng effect and can effect cell tisuue if taken in excessive amounts. Joint lubercation responds well too to it - but too much is also too much for the joints.

Moderation is the key

My mother started taking a mineral tonic and her hair when from white/grey to brown with a small amount of grey. Maybe you could try a mineral tonic.

I'm off to take some fish oil now!  I have actually had a thinning hair issue since I was about 19, I cover it up well - most people wouldn't know 'cos I use some good products (Couvre from Spencer Forrest their website is under the name toppik I think but you can google your way to it) and it's just on the top of my head - thank God for hair spray.  Now that I realize I have a thyroid problem I'm wondering if the hair problem is related.  When I was pregnant my hair was great - and really bad after giving birth so I figured there was a hormone connection but just thought it was nothing I could do anything about.  I went to a dr. once 20 years ago who did a thyroid test and he said it was normal.  I got an ayurvedic product online that is an Indian hair loss treatment, it was an oil and a shampoo - it really made my hair nicely conditioned - but the mayo will probably work as well, olive oil is good too - add a few drops of rosemary and cedarwood essential oils, leave on as long as possible before washing out, maybe overnight.  I also have taken vitamin supps with biotin - seems to help Nioxin shampoo and conditioner are really good too - defintely notice less hair in the shower drain when I use them.  Fish oil is good for everything isn't it, was watching an oprah today and Dr. Oz (love him) was saying omega 3 (fish) are really good for stress..I'm taking more.

Good luck.

I can't speak for stopping it - but fish oil does show to be a great replenisher for the follicles that your hair starts from.  Your follicles are the roots and fish oil protects them from breakage. Vit D  B6 and K are good too. A good multi would be great no matter what along with extra b's and fish omega 3 and 6.

Also maynoise treatments help alot - but are messy. I am a beauty school drop out almost 25yrs - but still do alot of hair things now.
