Is it possible to gain a lot of weight around 60 pounds if levels of synthyroid are not right. I had my thyroid removed in March 2000 and have struggled with my weight ever since. I go from a size 6 to an 16 in a year.
I have changed my whole eating plan and struggle to lose a pound here and there. But I HAVE found the more optimal I get on my thyroid levels the more weight comes off.
I do not believe it is the meds that really make us lose weight - it is the increase energy we feel after things start to heal and our energy starts to return.
I was totally on the couch for 6 years and packed on the 40 pounds due to the illness and condition of what my thyroid was in.
Now I actually am up and going like I was before I got sick and see the weight is leaving.
It requires a life change of diet. Read up on the Zone diet and South Beach - those are pretty much the top programs available that have the most success stories from hypothyroid patients.
