Weight Gain

by JoanneBog, Jan 19, 2009 12:54PM
I was on thyroid med last year and thyroid became hyper.  I was told to cut my 50 MCG tablet in half.  Then I just stopped taking it all together.  Three months ago I stated taking estrogen and progesterone.  I have gain 25 pounds in the last year and currently weigh 169 pounds.  I am 5' 5" and 55 years of age.  Last week my blood work showed that I was hypo again and my doctor put me back on Levothyroxin (levothyroxine) 50MCG.  Will I be able to lose the 25 pounds I gained?  My energy level is still very low in the morning and I am feeling a little disgusted right now.  Also, while taking Levothyroxin (levothyroxine) you need to take it first thing in the morning and cannot have any calcium or iron supplement for at least 4 hours.  Does that mean I can't have calcium fortified milk for 4 hours?  Or iron rich eggs?   Thank you, JoanneBog
