Weight Loss

by bonkuman, Nov 16, 2008 03:12AM
I have been losing weight gradually and consistently.  i recently did a blood test and my Doctor told me I had hypothyroid.  When asked if this could contribute to my weight loss, he said I should be gaining weight instead!  What seems to be happening?

It is common in hypothyroidism to weight gain - but some do experience loss at times.

I wish I was in that catorgory :)

If you have your labs available we can see if the board has more additional thoughts?

Whenever I am hypothyroid, I lose weight.  How is your appetite?  When I'm hypo, it is a struggle to eat and I have to make myself do it.  I was recently hypo in preparation for radioactive iodine treatment and I lost 20 pounds.
