Weight loss + thyroid hormone

Since thyroid homones can speed metabolism and cause a weight loss. Do you think it is safe to give thyroid hormone and beta blocker like propranolol to induce a weight loss without damage to the heart.  Since Beta blocker will inhibit the conversion of t 4 to t3, this seems like a plausible weight loss strategy.

As mentioned above, no, it is not safe.  If you want to loose weight eat properly and excersize.  My sister tried to double her meds to loose weight with a disasterous outcome, never ever abuse prescription drugs.

Thyroid medication is not effective for weight-loss in people with normal thyroid function. Not to mention what factitious hyperthyoridism does to health. If beta blockers were suffiecient treatment, people with the real thing would not need to be on medications like Tapozole or getting RAI.

Also, the increase in appetite people have when they are hyperthyroid often leads to weight gain. They write in here all the time so surprised that they gaining weight and hyper .
If it worked and was even remotely safe someone would have marketed it in a combo pill ages ago LOL
