I have had hypothyroid for over 13 years now. I developed it after pregnancy. When I found out, the dr put me on synthroid. No matter what I did, my levels bounced around and I never felt good. Eventually, I found myself a really good endo. He put me on armour and I felt great. I got pregnant again in the fall of 2006. During my pregnancy, my tsh and free t4 levels stayed fine, but my total t3 went high. I delivered in July '07 and have not been able to get my t3 back down completely. I spoke with my endo and he suggested switching me to the t4/t3 combo (synthroid and cytomel) since the armour isn't giving me enough t3 anymore. I take armour once a day now. I split it up during pregnancy and it did help some but splitting while not being pregnant is throwing my tsh out of wack. I asked about just adding some cytomel to my armour and he said we could try it. Does anybody have any experience taking both armour and cytomel together? Does the synthroid/cytomel combo help? Thanks.
