I'd probably pursue the liver function angle if I were you. Any NSAID can disrupt liver function. Before my hypo diagnosis, I was on Celebrex (another NSAID) for chronic back pain, and was taken off of it after a liver function test. You could possibly also have a pituitary or hypothalamus issue, but given the ibuprofen and the ease of testing liver function, I'd probably explore that first.
I hope you get an answer and get well soon.
No known liver dysfunction. However, I am on high dosage of ibueprofen for chronic pain. I have hot/cold flashes, night sweats, extreme fatigue (I yawn all day), chronic headaches, cannot seem to lose weight even with a healthy diet, have brain fog at times as well. I have goiter and several benign nodules, including one on my isthmus.
Your results are a bit puzzling. Your TSH looks good, and your FT4 is a beautiful mid-range, but your FT3 is very low. We usually see this scenario with people who are on T4-only thyroid meds and are slow converters.
How do you feel? With that FT3 level, I would expect you to feel very hypo.
Some T3 is produced by the thyroid, but the vast majority of it is converted from T4. This hapopens primarily in the liver, though it does take place in other organs as well. Do you have any liver dysfunction that you know of?
No Meds. Lab Ranges (Quest) are as follows:
FT3 210-440
FT4 0.93-1.7
What are the ranges on your FT3 and FT4?
Are you on thyroid meds?
The "Thy Per" and TGLOBAB are negative indicating that you do not have an autoimmune thyroid disease.
