Hello ,
I am now on 700 mcg of eltroxin per week , I still have some hypo symptoms so my intuition tells me that I need to wait more time since I am taking it less than 3 months or need the dose to be increased !
best wishes !
I am clinically hypo. ( TT -graves/hyper/goiter) I take 125mcg of Levothyroxine. (15yrs ago)
I have been on T4 medication for the last 15yrs and have not had any adverse affects from taking the medication. My PCP usually will only test TSH, sometimes T4-Free.
No weight issues from thyroid being gone.
My daughter is 9 and born without a gland. Now on Nature-Throid (2 1/2 months) doing great! Had previously been doing great on Armour brand for 5 months prior. Then got the new formula, not so great! So switched to Nature-Throid and finally feeling good again! Yipee!!!! Before switching to dessicated, which has t3 and t4 in it, she had always been on t4 only Synthroid. Lots of hypo. health issues for her on this, (last and most serious of which were PVC's in her heart, 83 revealed in 20 day Holter Monitor heart study), as she was not converting enough of the synthetic t4 to the active hormone t3, so her bodies hormones were out of balance and causing many other health issues for her Now her body no longer has to struggle with this and her health and life are slowly improving! No more PVC's, constipation w blood in stool, crying/ emotional, cold, muscle pain, blotting, fatigue/low energy, and carb cravings etc..., etc..., etc... for her.Now she can concentrate on just being a healthy, happy kid!
I only take Synthroid, which was my endo's drug choice, and we are still in the bumping process. After my FT4 levels are maxed, if I still feel tired and can't lose weight, I will ask for Cytomel if my threes are low.
So far, no adverse side-effects with the synthetic Synthroid.
