What makes a nodule show on ultrasound but not thyroid uptake scan?

by kimknight1011, Aug 01, 2009 07:02PM
This happened to me and they don't know why. Any ideas?

Iodine concentration on viewing the thyroid with the uptake. The uptake only views things that are sucking in the iodine you are given.  If a nodule is not a working one, then it won't suck in the iodine to view on the uptake.

An untra sound reveals everything that is there - within that area  - with no iodine needed.

Would this make it a cold nodule? I can't seem to find anything about this happening. Thanks for the information.
