I had a ultrasound done and they saw a solid nodule. Then on the thyroid scan there was no nodule present. The results say there is not a cold or hot nodule present. Wouldn't it be concidered a cold nodule if it didn't show up on the scan but did the ultrasound?
Hot and cold simplySimply sleep refer to whether or not the nodule/thyroid is using Iodine, which is the normalNormal saline flush function of the thyroid. A hot nodule takes up iodine, a cold one does not. Nodules do not disappear, so that is weird, I don't know how that can happen. How big is the nodule? If it is 1 cm or larger, they can biopsy it, that would be the next step, otherwise if it is not that large, then they will just watch it for growth and when it is big enough, they will do an FNA biopsy.
