I just had a thyroid ultrasound that showed one small nodule (0.5 cm x 0.6 cm). I am on 125 mcg of levothyroxineLevothyroxine Levothyroxine sodium for hypothyroidism, and my mother had thyroid cancer 7 years ago at the age of 77. My doctor wants me to get a thyroid scan, but I don't want to go off my medication for the 6 weeks the hospital requires, for a test that my research indicates most likely won't show anything conclusive. Do I need this scan? If not, how do I convince the doctor that it isn't necessary?
